    Big Imbalance

    RTE documentation

    The RTE documentation is available here.

    What this API collects

    The imbalance perimeter of a balance responsible party: energy bought and sold on the markets, flexibility, demand response, ARENH, imports and exports, imbalances and the amounts they are settled at.

    Two reports are collected on every run, and both feed the same variables:

    • the detail report, one entry per component of the perimeter;
    • the summary report, the aggregated positions and settlement amounts.
    Warning

    RTE offers this API in two versions. Insights only supports V2.

    The resolution follows the imbalance settlement period, which moved to 15 minutes on 2025-01-01. The switch is decided per day of data.

    PT15M Days on or after 2025-01-01
    Note

    These are the two resolutions Insights requests. The segment is written from the resolution echoed back in the response, so a data type that RTE publishes at a coarser step carries that step instead.

    {unitName}

    The unit depends on the data type: an energy is published in MWH, a price in EUR/MWH, an amount in EUR. Set the Unit of the variable to match the segment.

    Examples

    BIG-IMBALANCE_Z55_P1M_PT30M_MWH
    BIG-IMBALANCE_B20_P12M_PT30M_EUR/MWH
    BIG-IMBALANCE_Y01_NA_PT15M_MWH

    Collection schedule

    Once a day, at 07:30 UTC.

    Recovery behaviour

    Gap filling over the last 31 days: a day is queried only when one of the BIG-IMBALANCE_* variables has no data for it. Both reports are then collected for that day.

    Gap filling compared with a full re-send over the same 31 day window

    Perimeter check

    This API does not check the referential before calling RTE. A point outside the perimeter returns an empty response rather than a skip in the log. Use Id Referential to confirm eligibility when a source stays empty.
